With my love of the urban cycling scene as well as adventure cycling, Mack Workshop have been on my radar for a while now with the minimalist look of their products and on trend designs.
Jon MacKinnon began his journey with Mack Workshop when he was unsatisfied with the options out there for cycling luggage and accessories. Fast forward to the present day and his mission statement says ‘Our ethos is that simple, high quality, and good value for money products are a necessity, anything other than that is a waste of time’ and based on his current offerings he has hit the proverbial nail well and truly on the head.
We received the Tool Roll, Road Roll, Reflective Road Roll and Jersey pouch and not one of these has disappointed. There are a lot more to the most recent collection but for the purpose of this I will focus on these four items.
I was extremely impressed with all of the products that were sent to us as it feels like he has all the bases covered. The Road Roll and Reflective Road Roll is perfect, whether it is for your commute to work or out on those longer weekend rides and would look great whether it is hanging off your single speed hack or tucked under your carbon race machine.
There is then the Tool Roll, which is like the bigger brother of the Road Roll as it features the same simple design but with an additional below pocket to hold that emergency cash you need if you cannot get yourself back on the road.
Finally for all of you out there who don’t like to have anything hanging from their saddles there is the Jersey Pouch, which is perfectly sized to keep all those necessities together, whether that is your tool kit or personal effects.
All of these are fantastically made using waterproof 1000D Cordura, high quality polyester webbing and ITW Nexus buckles and hardware so you are guaranteed to have something that is going to last you for years to come.
In order to get a good feel for the products I took the Reflective Road Roll, Tool roll and Jersey pouch out on a long distance overnight ride and not one of these disappointed. The Tool Roll with its extra space carried all the essentials for our team and once adjusted stayed firm under the saddle; the reflective road roll carried the additional bits and bobs needed with ease and I was quietly reminded many times by my fellow cyclists sitting behind me that the reflective quality was quite an impressive feature, and the jersey pouch was that perfect accompaniment, keeping all the small pieces I carry in my jersey together and prevented the inevitable routing around when I was cycling along.
Mack Workshop creations all hit the brief perfectly, with the added advantage of not breaking the bank.
